Once you know the scope, get at least two quotes for household shifting, car transport, and bike transport separately. Compare all-inclusive prices, not headline numbers.

Start packing non-essentials first — books, decor, off-season clothes, extra kitchenware. Label every box with room name and a numbered inventory. This saves hours of confusion at the destination. Separate valuables, documents, and medicines into personal carry — never pack these.

For your car: reduce fuel to below a quarter tank, remove all personal belongings, take detailed photographs of all panels and interior, and keep RC, insurance, and your own ID ready for the car transport team’s handover inspection. For your bike: same process — deflate tyres slightly, remove accessories, photograph thoroughly.

Move day feels chaotic — but if you’ve done Phases 1–3 properly, it’s actually the most mechanical day of the whole process. Your job on move day is to supervise, not to do everything yourself.

For vehicles: conduct the pre-loading inspection personally. Check every photograph taken by the VCL team matches your own photos. Sign the condition report only after you’re satisfied. For household goods: be present for the final inventory count before the truck leaves. Get tracking information for both your vehicles and goods before saying goodbye.

Receiving Everything & Settling In Intelligently

Don’t try to unpack everything on the first day — it leads to exhaustion and poor decisions about where things go. Unpack in priority order: bed and bedding first, kitchen second, bathroom essentials third. Everything else can wait a day or two.

When your vehicles arrive, do the post-delivery inspection immediately before signing the delivery receipt. Compare every panel against your pre-loading photographs. Only sign after you’re fully satisfied with the vehicle’s condition at delivery.

Document Updates — The Part Most People Forget

This is the most neglected phase of any city relocation in India — and the most important for your legal and financial continuity. Updating your address across all your documents and accounts ensures there are no disruptions to your banking, insurance, voting rights, or vehicle registration going forward.

Most address updates in India can now be done online. Aadhaar updates are processed through myAadhaar portal. Vehicle RC address changes go through the Parivahan portal. Bank address changes through net banking. Allow 4–6 weeks to work through the full list.
